Steerer Tube Replacement
We can replace your steerer tube using the High-Quality 7050-grade Aluminium ND Tuned tubes. You may need to replace your steerer tube if;
- You require a longer tube to fit a different bike, or you've cut it too short.
- You've discovered a creak. (Please contact us if your fork is covered by warranty)
Creaking steerer tubes or incorrectly repaired steerer tubes can become dangerous, so it's vital you get the work done by a professional, and we're here to help.
The Process
- First, we strip the fork, pressing out the steerer tube and stanchions.
- We then measure the crown tolerance using a Mitutoyo micrometer & bore gauge. Accurate to 1 micron (0.001mm)
- If we find the crown to be out of tolerance, we will go no further until we discuss your options.
- If the crown is within tolerance, we will press the new steerer and stanchions back in with a strong bonding agent. This secures the joint. It also seals the joint, preventing contamination. Any corrosion may begin the process of a creaking CSU.
